The state chairmen of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday declared their overwhelming support for the party’s embattled Ondo State governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.
The position was taken at a Meeting between the leadership of the PDP and state chairmen at the temporary secretariat of the party in Abuja, where it deliberated on topical national issues.
The meeting which was convened at the instance of the National Chairman, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, with other members of the National Caretaker Committee, briefed the state chairmen on the developments in the party and some certain decisions of leadership.
During the meeting reports were presented by the state chairmen on the state of affairs in their various states as it concerns the PDP.
In a statement signed by the national publicity of the party, Price Dayo Adeyeye, noted that, “The Meeting equally was optimistic that Justice shall surely be served and therefore, both teams reiterated full support for the Party’s Candidate in the Saturday November 26, 2016 Gubernatorial Election in Ondo State, Hon. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN as the only Flag-bearer of the Party.
“Finally, we further call on all our members’ nationwide, teeming supporters and the general public, and especially Ondo people, to remain calm and continue supporting the Leadership in moving the Party forward.”
